Our Top Ten Tips to Healthy Happy Teeth


Ok, so March is here and we should all be getting into our stride for 2019?! The healthy eating habits and exercise plans are taking shape (probably with a few lapses here and there), as we will ourselves on to stick with those new year resolutions we made a few weeks ago.

Almost everyone I know is hitting the same kind of routine. Yes, we are still an image obsessed nation. However much we choose not to succumb to the pressure from those photoshopped images on instagram (you know the ones!), we still long for that 'perfect' body and face we had when we were 23. It's actually a great thing to want to look our best, as long as it keeps us healthy and happy.

One great way to look and feel your best, without trying to achieve the unachievable, is to SMILE BIG and be PROUD! We previously blogged about the importance of having confidence in your smile, well now we have put together our Top Ten Tips for a healthy smile in 2019....

Tip 1: SWAP FRUITY or FIZZY DRINKS FOR WATER.

This tip is an easy fix and is not only great for your teeth but also for your waistline.

Tip 2: FLOSS LIKE A BOSS.

Yes floss is for your teeth, not to wear as a bikini ;-) Flossing everyday reaches the areas between your teeth that a toothbrush cannot.

Tip 3: STEAR CLEAR OF FADS!

Charcoal toothpaste and some whitening products are abrasive to tooth enamel. You might look great tomorrow but damaged enamel will cause problems.

Tip 4: DITCH THE CIGS.

We are all too aware of the health issues from smoking. Now add worsening gum disease.

Tip 5: AVOID SNACKING ON SUGARY FOODS.

For many of us cake is a necessity ;-) Teeth take the hardest hit from sugary foods, so if you have to give into temptation, incorporate it with your other mealtimes.

Tip 6: FLUORIDE IS NOT THE ENEMY.

Fluoride is a naturally occurring element that reduces the chances of tooth decay.

Tip 7: DON'T BE A STRANGER!

Make check ups a regular thing. This way we can keep on top of decay and spot any problems early. Early detection = less pain and less expense!

Tip 8: TRUST YOUR DENTIST

Find a dentist you like and stay with them to build a good relationship. You should understand the treatment you are receiving and have trust in your dentists recommendations.

Tip 9: DON'T NEGLECT YOUR GUMS.

Your beautiful smile includes healthy gums too. Gum disease causes bad breath and can lead to wider health problems.

Tip 10: SMILE!!

A beautiful smile is a confident smile. If you have followed our top 10 tips you should be set to get your best smile ever. Confident smiles lead to happy confident people, it's proven!
